What to Bring
What To Bring
Bring yourself! And all of the fantastic energy that makes you… you!
- Tickets – Remember to purchase your tickets in advance (no tickets at the door!)
- Costumes – Think playa. Think peacock strutting his stuff. Be creative, be fabulous!
- Warm Clothes – The main dance floor, one of the performance spaces, and two of the three bars are
inside. But outside are giant sculptures, interactive flaming art pieces, DJs, bands, dancing, fire
spinning. Think playa-at-night. Be prepared. It’s not our fault if you get cold. - What-where-when and Map – If you want to be sure to see all of the art and choose your favorite
activities, you may want to print and bring your own copy of the What-where-when guide and the Map. - Money – Unfortunately, this is not the playa, and you will need money or a metrocard to get to the venue, and you will need money to purchase drinks and food at the venue. In addition, there is an ice skating rink at the venue, but it is not included in Decom. If you would like to use it, you may
want to bring money. - ID – Venue security will be IDing participants and marking people as over or under 21. Bring your ID to ensure that you get marked as over 21 so that the bar will serve you.
What *not* to bring:
- Alcohol – There will be three bars set up, and drink prices start at $4.
A team of expert Decom organizers and volunteers sampled the drinks and deemed them suitable for consumption, and very strong. Do not bring alcohol to give away to others. - Food (especially food for other people) – The venue has a food court that will remain open until 2
am. It will not smell like pulled pork. It will have a variety of food options (cafeteria style/quality). - Fuel (firespinners, read this!)
– If you signed up to spin fire at Decom, do not bring your own fuel. Decom will be providing both white gas and paraffin for your flaming pleasure. - Lame people – If you are bringing non-burners to the event, we would appreciate your giving them a
little introduction to the community and this type of event. If you don’t know what to tell them, we
recommend reading our pages About Decom and About the Theme.
